Ariadne

An emotional puppetry show about lost loves, labyrinths of identity and and the antique myth of Ariadne. This one woman performance with Merja Pöyhönen from Finland is part of the Pop Up Puppets International Festival hosted by Marionetteatern, at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm August 22-25 2024.

Ariadne is a mess woven out of identity questions, lost loves and the antique myth of Ariadne (you know, the one with the ball of yarn, and the labyrinth). The surrealistic story bounces between the growth story of the stubborn Cretan princess and holiday memories from 90’s Greece of the Finnish puppeteer herself.

Surrounded by a family of knitted puppets they lead us to the labyrinth of roots, forests and passed civilisations. This one-woman full-speed show is produced by the finnish puppet theatre Dirty Duckling. It is Merja Pöyhönens’ personal quest to learn ventriloquism, show all her puppet manipulation skills and speak with as many voices as humanly possible.

Adults from 15 years.
