About us

Lava is a venue for young people’s culture, combining a public library and a makerspace/workshop for young people aged 14 to 25 at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm.

Established in 1996, Lava serves the city’s thriving youth culture as a dynamic meeting place, an open, inspiring space for reading and crafting as well as a space for informal learning and developing skills within music, printed and digital arts and more.

Here you can borrow books, musical instruments and tools to take home (a Stockholm City’s public library card is required), engage in different activities and create with textile, paint or beads. There’s also computers for graphic editing, music production and a 3D printer.

Lava aims to enhance youth culture from all over the city and beyond, and empower young artists and practitioners in using their right to expression.

All our exhibitions, concerts, plays and other events are produced together with our visitors, facilitated by our staff. If you have an idea for a cultural project you want to arrange in the city, we can help you make it happen.

Contact us if you need further information about our space and activities at lava@stadsteatern.stockholm.se.

We are open, 2pm–7pm Monday through Friday 11am–5pm Saturday and Sunday.

You can find us right under the fountain at Sergels Torg.
